Anthea Toft, author of Beneath Safer Skies (RIP)

Posted by Lydia Unwin on

Anthea Toft, author of Beneath Safer Skies, died this week after several months of illness. She will be much missed by friends and neighbours in her Shropshire community.

Anthea was a child evacuee from Kent, moving in 1940 to a tiny village near Stiperstones. Her account of her growing childhood happiness on an isolated farm in wartime Shropshire has delighted countless readers.

As an adult she returned to live in her beloved Shropshire where she and her husband ran a small-holding for blind children with special needs.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
