Meet the Author: Steve Palin

Few people combine wildlife, art and wordplay quite like Steve Palin.

Born in Liverpool, Steve has spent his working life in education as a teacher, headteacher and adviser, while quietly building a reputation as one of Britain's most distinctive wildlife artists. His paintings have been published for more than 50 years and have been exhibited at the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art.

A passionate conservationist, Steve now lives on the Isle of Anglesey, where he has created a flourishing wildflower meadow to support local wildlife. His dedication to nature extends far beyond painting – he is also an official wildlife verifier for Anglesey, helping to record and protect the island's remarkable biodiversity, with a special focus on moths and butterflies.

When he's not sketching wildlife or collecting entertaining puns, Steve enjoys birdwatching, walking and music, playing both the piano and the piano accordion for his local Morris dancing side.

His latest book, Pundemonium, brings together all of these passions in a joyful collection of more than 50 beautifully illustrated animal puns. It's the latest in a series of much-loved gift books that celebrate the natural world with warmth, humour and exceptional artwork.

If you've enjoyed Steve's previous books, Pundemonium is his funniest and most playful collection yet - and if you're discovering his work for the first time, it's the perfect place to start.
