Ravens and a Hen Harrier filmed by Steve Wright author of Wild Enthusiasm, a book on how to plan a British safari

The two Raven chicks spotted by Steve Wright at Marine Drive, Douglas, Isle of Man. I was slightly distracted though when a Hen Harrier flew over my head.
Common Ravens build their nests on tall structures like cliffs and towers and often reuse the same nests or nest sites each year. They usually nest in the spring, and both parents work together over several months to raise a single brood of up to seven chicks.
Ravens build rather large, untidy nests, but their eggs are beautiful and often uniquely patterned. The young birds mature slowly and may spend several months in association with their parents after leaving the nest.

New Book by Charles Moseley, To the Eel Island - Published TODAY (10 April)
Posted by Lydia Unwin on
Charles Moseley writes about his move from a fenland village to the nearby historic little city of Ely and breathes life into the history, natural world and people who have made his new home what it is today.
On one level, a story about moving, in old age, from a village to a nearby town, in this case the city of Ely. But also a moving exploration of ‘belonging’ and of moving on, of the layers of past generations of the local people who have shaped the new place, and the changes over the years wrought by nature and the shifting Fenland landscape.
