"The Ugly Duckling" is a literary fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. First published in November 1843, that's 177 years ago this week!

Book review:
This is one of the most impressive books and monographs I have had the pleasure of reviewing for some time.
You can feel the enthusiasm for the subject in every paragraph...The balance of subjects in the book is outstanding, from the natural history of the swan right through to the often contentious conservation issues.
